100Ah vs 200Ah LiFePO4 Batteries

A 200Ah battery stores about twice the nominal energy of a 100Ah battery at the same voltage, but it does not automatically provide twice the current or fit every installation.

Convert amp-hours to energy

At 12.8V nominal, 100Ah equals about 1,280Wh and 200Ah equals about 2,560Wh. At 25.6V, those capacities equal about 2,560Wh and 5,120Wh. Compare products at the same voltage.

Usable energy depends on the allowed operating range. Runtime equals usable watt-hours divided by average load after system losses.

Capacity does not define inverter power

Check BMS continuous and peak current separately. One 200Ah battery can have the same, higher, or lower current limit than a particular 100Ah model.

If two 100Ah batteries are paralleled, their approved current-sharing design may increase bank current, but conductors, protection, state of charge, and manufacturer parallel limits must be followed.

Charging time and recovery

At the same charger current, a 200Ah battery takes roughly twice as long to replace the same percentage of capacity. Replacing 160Ah with a 20A charger takes more than eight hours in practice.

A larger battery without adequate solar, alternator, shore, or generator charging may never recover fully between uses. Size storage and recharge together.

Choose one large battery or multiple modules

One 200Ah battery can reduce interconnects but may be harder to lift and replace. Two 100Ah batteries can distribute weight and provide layout flexibility, but add connections and require approved parallel operation.

Measure the compartment, terminal access, weight support, cable route, and service procedure. Compare total cost including extra protection and interconnects.
